Maya Star is definitely one of my go to places in Austin to shop. I find them a bit overpriced at times, but they have a wonderful selection of jewelry and clothes. When I don’t have time to search for something online, they have always come through! If you are in Austin, stop in! My ever-so-loving bf got me a hefty gift card there this year. I did some serious damage. I’m loving this lace skirt. It goes with almost all of my blouses too.
I have a great affinity for J.Crew jewelry. Ever since my friend Caitlin introduced me, I’ve been hooked. They always carry a reasonably priced selection of vintage-inspired pieces with just the right amount of sparkle.i suggest hitting the J. Crew outlet, they have great sales.
Finally, yes I got my blouse at Kohl’s and you know sometimes they carry really cute (inexpensive) pieces!
Okay, I’m off to work at SoLa now…

I love these jeans, because I feel like I’m one of the cast members of the first generation 90210. They really bring back some found 90’s memories. I found them at Target. Yes, I shop at Target, you’d be surprised at how cute some of their clothes are. I’m a girl on a budget, but I still want to look interesting and put together. Anyway, I’m wiped and need to get some sleep! I’m going out to some concerts in Austin, so I will be posting some music + fashion reviews soon!

This morning my ever-so-loving boyfriend and I got into an argument. Boys (most Boys) just don’t understand the importance of feeling your personal best. For me, that means wearing a put together ensemble for the right occasion (usually a dress). Today we went to his company picnic. He thought showing up in a summer dress would be too much. “Just wear shorts and a t-shirt”, he said! And my favorite line, “If you want other women to like you, you can’t be going around dressed so nice, baby.” Ugh, while I appreciate the sentiment I retorted. “If someone has a problem with my cute dress, then I don’t want them as my friend anyway!”
Do you ever deal with this? Do you ever “dumb down” your personal style to fit in? It reminds me of an Ani Difranco lyric “God help you if you are an ugly girl. Of course too pretty is also your doom. Because, everyone harbors a secreted hatred for the prettiest girl in the room.”
My hope is that we as women can embrace, learn and grow from each other. Not spend our time being jealous and petty. I admit, I have fallen victim to this more times than I would like to admit. It has only ever stemmed from my own insecurity.
Anyway, I won the argument because everyone LOVED my outfit and other girls were in really cute clothes too. The truth is, I felt good in what I was wearing and that helped my personality shine through. I was comfortable and happy and THAT is truly when you look your personal best.

The Musicianista—An Introduction
“Do you think she woke up one morning and said: I think I’ll go to law school today.” While I am not Elle Woods and this is most certainly not Harvard, I did wake up one morning and say: “I think I’ll become a notable music and fashion blogger.” I know it is a lofty goal, but so is becoming an infamous singer/songwriter with a hardcore cult following. And, I’ve been working on that one since I was 5 years old. I decided to combine my two obsessions—Music and Fashion into one big ol’ blog. I present to you The Musicianista.
I will be blogging about music and fashion in my new home of Austin, Texas. I’ll be attending concerts, reviewing shows as well as the band or artist’s fashion statements. I’ll post my personal style as well as interesting street style I find around town. Occasionally, I’ll add some photos of the most awesome pet of all time, my hedgehog named Asterisk.
Well, here goes nothing! I hope you enjoy this blog and all that I find as I explore this vibrant town of Austin.
